Elk Grove Kraken Water Polo Club – Recreational Program

The 10/17 Kraken Elite 3:00pm–4:00pm session is a one-day, recreational water polo program designed for motivated youth athletes who want to improve their skills, stay active, and have fun in a supportive environment.

Who This Program Is For

This session is ideal for boys and girls ages 12–14 who:

  • Have some comfort and experience in the water
  • Are interested in learning or improving water polo skills
  • Enjoy being part of a team and participating in group activities

Eligibility Requirements

For the safety of all participants, players must meet the following criteria:

  • Age: 12–14 years old
  • Swimming Ability: Must be comfortable swimming in a 25-meter pool with a depth of 6–12 feet
  • Able to tread water and move across the pool without assistance

Prior water polo experience is helpful but not required. Coaches will adjust drills and activities to match each player’s ability level.

What Players Will Learn

During this one-hour session, athletes will focus on:

  • Fundamental ball-handling skills (passing, catching, and shooting)
  • Basic offensive and defensive positioning
  • Eggbeater kick and treading water techniques
  • Teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship

The session will combine skill-based drills with light scrimmage-style play to help players apply what they learn in a game setting.

Coaching & Environment

The program is led by Elk Grove Kraken Water Polo Club coaches who are experienced in working with youth athletes and creating a safe, positive learning environment.

Our focus is on:

  • Building confidence in and out of the water
  • Teaching proper technique and safe play
  • Helping every athlete feel included and supported

What to Bring

  • Swimsuit (athletic or training-style recommended)
  • Towel
  • Goggles (optional, but recommended for warm-up swimming)
  • Water bottle (labeled with player’s name)
  • Cap and/or sunscreen if applicable for facility setup

Parent Information

This recreational session is structured to be fun, safe, and age-appropriate. All activities are supervised, and safety guidelines are followed at all times.

Parents are welcome to observe from designated spectator areas, depending on facility rules.

By registering for and participating in programs offered by Elk Grove Kraken Water Polo Club, I acknowledge and understand that participation in athletic activities, including water polo and aquatic training, involves inherent risks of injury, illness, accident, or death. I voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation for myself and/or my child.

I certify that the participant is physically able to participate in program activities and has no medical condition that would prevent safe participation. I understand it is my responsibility to consult with a physician regarding any medical concerns prior to participation.

I authorize Elk Grove Kraken Water Polo Club staff, coaches, volunteers, and affiliated facility personnel to obtain emergency medical treatment for the participant if I cannot be reached immediately. I understand that I am financially responsible for any medical expenses incurred.

I agree to release, waive, and hold harmless Elk Grove Kraken Water Polo Club, its directors, coaches, volunteers, staff, sponsoring organizations, and facility operators from any and all liability, claims, demands, damages, or causes of action arising out of participation in club activities, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.

I understand that practices, clinics, camps, games, and related events may involve photography or video recording for promotional, educational, or social media purposes. I grant permission for the participant’s image or likeness to be used unless I submit a written opt-out request.

I acknowledge that program fees are non-refundable except as otherwise stated in the club’s refund policy.

By completing registration, I confirm that I have read, understood, and voluntarily agree to this informed consent and waiver statement.
