11/7 Kraken Rising – Ages 9–11
Join Elk Grove Kraken Water Polo Club for a fun and engaging water polo session designed specifically for athletes ages 9–11. This recreational practice focuses on building confidence in the water, learning fundamentals, and fostering a love for the sport in a positive, supportive environment.

Who This Session Is For
This Kraken Rising session is open to:
- Boys and girls ages 9–11
- Youth athletes new to water polo
- Swimmers looking to try a new, team-oriented sport
- Returning Kraken players who want additional skills practice
What Athletes Will Learn
Our coaches will introduce and reinforce age-appropriate water polo skills, including:
- Basic water polo rules and game flow
- Body position, eggbeater kick, and safe movement in deep water
- Passing, catching, and ball-handling skills
- Shooting technique and simple offensive concepts
- Defensive positioning and teamwork
Instruction is delivered in a fun, encouraging setting, with an emphasis on effort, sportsmanship, and team spirit.
Session Format
The 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm session typically includes:
- Warm-up and water safety review
- Skill stations and small-group drills
- Short, controlled scrimmage or game-like activities
- Cool-down and closing recap with coaches
What to Bring
- Swimsuit (one-piece recommended for girls, fitted trunks or jammers for boys)
- Towel and change of clothes
- Swim cap and goggles (optional but recommended)
- Water bottle (labeled with athlete’s name)
- Sunscreen if applicable for outdoor pools
Requirements & Safety
- Athletes should be comfortable in the water and able to swim independently.
- Certified coaches and lifeguards supervise all activities.
- Safety, respect, and positive behavior are expected from all participants.
