Join Elk Grove Kraken Water Polo Club for a fun, skills-focused session designed just for young athletes ages 9–11. This one-hour practice introduces players to the fundamentals of water polo in a positive, supportive, and energetic environment.

Our Kraken Rising session focuses on building confidence in the water while introducing the core skills of water polo in a recreational, low-pressure setting.

Who This Session Is For

This session is a great fit if your child:

• Is between 9 and 11 years old
• Can comfortably swim one length of the pool (or is close and eager to learn)
• Wants to try water polo in a fun and welcoming environment
• Is looking to build teamwork, coordination, and water confidence

What Players Will Learn

During this one-hour practice, athletes will work on:

• Basic swimming and water safety skills
• Foundational water polo movements (eggbeater kick, treading water)
• Ball handling, passing, and shooting basics
• Simple offensive and defensive concepts
• Teamwork, communication, and good sportsmanship

What to Bring

• Swimsuit (athletic or competition-style recommended)
• Towel and water bottle
• Swim cap and goggles (optional but recommended)
• Warm clothes or sandals for after practice

Coaching and Safety

All sessions are led by Elk Grove Kraken Water Polo Club coaches who are experienced in working with youth athletes. Our staff emphasizes:

• Safety-first instruction and supervision
• Age-appropriate drills and games
• Positive encouragement and skill development at each athlete’s pace

How to Register

This session is open to the public and to current members of Elk Grove Kraken Water Polo Club. Space may be limited to ensure a safe coach-to-athlete ratio.
